Black Dagger Brotherhood Series by J.R. Ward

Just finished the latest German translation of J.R. Ward's Black Dagger series. Here in Germany the novellas are split up in two volumes each - so this would be the 5th book in the US/UK.

I don't know - I'm a bit thorn. I like the books and then I don't. The plot isn't bad, the baddies are shaped well enough, the bloodsuckers are different - but why do those Vampires have to have sex every minute or so? I mean, HET sex only! YUCK! Why couldn't she at least have some gay romance in book no.4? (Everyone who already has read them knows whom I mean - and the others won't get spoiled - at least not too much - by me ;)

*sigh* And now I am angry with myself for starting to read another unfinished series. I mean, I learned to avoid WIPs in fanfiction altogether, because I have seen many fictions abandoned by their creators. Fics that where damn good btw. And I really don't like cliffhangers.

Reading 'Inkheart'

I am currently reading Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. Am I the only one, imaging Alan Rickman's voice for Mo? This would be perfect, wouldn't it?

And, since I read the book in German, I was curious and had a look into the English translation. Correct me please, if I am wrong, but I got the feeling that the translation was very bad. Reading it felt like stumbling through a bumpy written essay by a fifth year who didn't like the subject they worked on.

Before you pounce me, I know my knowledge of the English language is limited, but I belive that I notice if the writing is 'good' or not. At least I notice it when reading fanfiction. Some fics are easy to read, others are not - some are just 'feeling' right, other feel wrong. I can not describe it better, sorry :(
